FUTURREG Inter-regional Workshop - Scanning Science Popularisation Futures

Aim and Objectives of Workshop

The aim of this three-day workshop is to

  • Create a shared understanding of emerging trends and drivers of science-society and science popularisation futures
  • Share inter-regional experiences on effective methods and approaches for tackling future and emerging science-society challenges, namely gender, privatisation, lifelong learning, virtual communities of practice, climate change...
  • Define a framework for a future-oriented science popularisation strategy using futures approaches
  • Complement this open exchange of experiences with practical training sessions on 'Futures Tools' appropriate for tackling science popularisation challenges


Methodology

The workshop will combine:

  • plenary and break-out sessions for practical group work
  • training in a range of futures tools included in the Futurreg Toolkit, namely horizon scanning, trend analysis, Delphi, scenarios and vision management
  • design session to develop a blueprint for a future-oriented science popularisation strategy  

The final plenary session will capture the WG inputs to define a desired and feasible portfolio of science popularisation actions.
