Students to test skills on the racetrack

Faculty of Engineering students at the University of Malta will be taking part in a car building and racing competition at the Ferrari Fiorano racetrack in Italy next weekend.
The Formula SAE Italy competition challenges teams of undergraduate and graduate students to conceive, design, fabricate and compete with small, formula-style, autocross-racing cars.
This third edition will be held between Friday and Sunday. A total of 26 teams from various universities will be taking part.
The students have been busy constructing a prototype open-wheel-style racing car for evaluation. This consists mainly of frame design, engine tuning, suspension set-up, transmission, budget and vehicle testing.
