The Malta Council for Science and Technology is pleased to announce that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Centre for Information on Marine Science and Technology – EurOcean (www.eurocean.org).
EurOcean is responsible for developing information exchange and derived products in the field of marine sciences and technologies between a wide range of government and non-governmental bodies, with a view of building a comprehensive panorama on the state of research activities and related resources, thus enhancing the development of a Marine European Research Area. In essence the functions of EurOcean are to:
facilitate access to, compile and process appropriate information on marine sciences and technologies;
stimulate the development and use of quantitative indicators related to marine science and technology;
facilitate communication between European research organisations having activities in marine science and technology;
prepare analyses, reports, and other products, in accordance with the requirements of the members of EurOcean, partner organisations, and other appropriate organisations.
The members of EurOcean are Flanders Marine Institute, Fundacao papa Clencia e a Tecnologia, Instituto Eespanol de Oceanografia, Institut Francais de Recherche piur l’Exploitation de la Mer, Institute of Marine Research, Polish Institute of Oceanology, Irish Marine Institute, Romanian National Institute of Marine Geology and Geo-ecology.
