Back
The Malta Council for Science and Technology is proud to state that on 18th April it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Malta Institute of Management.
The objectives of the MoU are the following:
- MCST and MIM will seek to find common areas of interest in research and study.
- MIM will seek to develop the necessary courses and educational programmes in matters relating to science and technology management.
- MIM and MCST will jointly work towards the development of a Continuous Professional Education Programme in research and innovation. In this regard the two parties will open discussions with representative bodies as well as individual employers to ensure that such a programme is reflective of industry’s needs.
- MIM will disseminate to its members through its publications information related to S&T and R&I as presented by MCST.
- MIM and MCST will organise joint events to promote innovation and to create awareness as appropriate from time to time.
- MIM and MCST will identify common research areas and disseminate such research.
- MIM shall offer free corporate membership to MCST.
- MIM and MCST will make their premises available to each other as appropriate.
- MCST will invite MIM to participate on workshops and task forces as appropriate.
- MCST and MIM commit to find ways of how to collaborate in order to ensure effective implementation of the National Strategic Plan for R&I.
As a first tangible initiative, MCST and MIM have agreed to undertake a study to identify key bottle necks and issues which hold back R&I from flourishing amongst SMEs. MCST has submitted a request to engage 2 business students from the University of Malta to carry out interviews and carry out the preliminary analysis of the data collated. It is the intention of MCST and MIM to publish the study and publicly disseminate it towards the end of Quarter 4 in 2007.
