STAVE

Opportunities may now be available for Maltese companies to bid for contracts in the wide range of technologies that service the pan-European space industry. A workshop being held at the Malta Council for Science and Technology will highlight these mechanisms which are specifically available to Maltese companies to help them acquire contracts in their fields of expertise. The guest speakers are representatives from the French, Italian and German space agencies (CNES, ASI, DLR). The European space industry is known to be a multi billion euro activity.

There are opportunities in a wide range of technologies that are developed in Malta including materials and surface engineering, signal processing, power systems, software, structures, instrumentation, electronic products, control systems, robotics, energy storage, power conditioning, data handling, radio frequency, environment & life support systems, product assurance and project management. There are many other opportunities in which Maltese companies could provide products or services.

This occasion is being offered by the Space Transportation Assets Valorisation in Europe project (STAVE) which is supported by the 7th Framework Programme. The partners of the project intend to identify, evaluate and valorise skills within the 12 new member states of the EU. The project therefore targets SMEs, microenterprises, research labs, institutes and universities to identify space transport related opportunities within the EC, the European Space Agency and the national agencies.

The very idea of Maltese organisations participating in space transport projects appears preposterous to many, but in actual fact it is part of the aircraft industry. Furthermore, the components, products and services required are common to many other engineering systems and these are elements with which our local industry is familiar.

17 companies & organisations have already confirmed participation to the workshop. For registration kindly fill in the form below. The workshop is jointly organised by the Malta Council for Science and Technology and the University of Malta and will be held at Villa Bighi, Kalkara on 15th April between 14:00 and 19:00.
