Roadmapping technology evolution and the impact on telecommunications business
On Tuesday, 3 April 2007, a half-day Breakfast Briefing will be held at Villa Bighi, MCST on the future of telecommunications co-organised by CREATECH and the Malta Council for Science and Technology with the support of the EU ESF Project FORLINK. The future of Telecommunications will depend on a variety of factors, social, economic, regulatory and technology evolution. It is close to impossible to foresee or predict the future of the sector in 10-20 years' time. However it is important and useful to understand trends and drivers in terms of the technological evolution and what forces will come into play. The keynote presentation will be delivered by Dr Roberto Saracco, Director of Telecom Italia's Futures Centre in Venice and will focus on technology trajectories and the outcome and impact on Telecommunication Actors. His presentation will address Broadband / Bandwidth,Communication, Data Capture, Human Interfacing, Information Visual Displaying, Information Retrieval and Processing and Storage. The other speaker is Dr Jennifer Cassingena Harper, Policy Director, Malta Council for Science and Technology, who will present an overview of key insights from ongoing EU and MCST future-oriented activities. The meeting will be chaired by Dr. Saviour Zammit - ICT Sector Manager, EUROMEDITI Ltd.
