New COST Actions just published November 2015

A call is being made for researchers based in Malta to participate in new COST actions which have just been published. COST, www.cost.eu, is an intergovernmental framework for European Cooperation in Science and Technology, allowing the coordination of nationally-funded research on a European level. It anticipates and complements the activities of H2020, constituting a “bridge” towards the scientific communities of emerging countries. It also increases the mobility of researchers across Europe and fosters the establishment of scientific excellence in areas ranging from humanities to basic sciences.

COST actions are thus ‘bottom-up’ approaches to research and will facilitate networking and other events. There is very simple administration involved. COST does not have funds for research as such but researchers are reimbursed for expenses in conjunction with flights and accommodation to COST meetings. It also leads to excellent contacts and can also lead to preparation for future grant proposals eg as in H2020. It is particularly suitable for young researchers as well.

A list of COST Actions is attached below. For further information contact COST Malta National Contact Point  janet.mifsud@um.edu.mt or cost.mcst@gov.mt
